YoYo turned 17 on Monday. She invited a couple friends from her ESL class: Claire and Sunny. They were a lot of fun to visit with. We had a traditional ice cream birthday cake (my family's tradition) and then played Settlers of Catan. This board game is great fun. We knew that YoYo liked it so we bought her one to take back to Taiwan and play with her family. She'll have to use her English to translate all the rules (and there are a lot of them). It seems like it's really one of those games that is the rage--but it is well done and I think it will last.
What are your favourite games to play?
Do you have "House Rules" when you play a game?
When we were young Dad often let us win at games of Checkers or Mastermind. I loved knowing that. I also liked that transition time when that didn't happen anymore.

We love Settlers too - have you guys tried the expansions? We like the Seafarers but haven't ever tried the Cities and Knights or whatever it is called. It is hard to make time to play games these days it seems (at least it is for us!). Great idea for someone learning English!
Anyway, thinking of you and hope you and baby are doing well!
