January 20th There is a new president in the USA but more important to our family, Emora Worth Baggett is born! Webcaming with the Baggetts continues to be important to us. John is officially, “Mystery Man,” because of his rare appearances on the webcam. We take Imogen and our friends Jenn and Isabelle tobogganing for the first time at a small hill/dip nearby. Immy really loves it. We celebrate John’s birthday. Jenn also goes back to work in January after her maternity leave. Jenn works at a great school right on Broadway. She loves the school and its location. (Grandma Sue and Grandma Ruth help take care of Imogen.)
February~We get to visit with Shannon and meet Emmanuelle (Elle) Bandura for the first time! Imogen loves getting dressed up and having tea. More sledding and fun at the park. At the end of the month Pella and Brad welcome Zachary Bradley LeDrew and Jenn gets to meet him when he is still pretty new in the hospital.
March~Jenn and Imogen head to Saskatoon Family Expo with their good friends Jenn and Isabelle and get to meet a couple of RoughRiders.
April ~Jenn and Imogen go to Zachary’s baby shower and get a quick visit with Janet and Lanelle too. We all travel to Abilene and get to meet Emora (and enjoy our first Camp Cousins with Ivan, Dominique, Imogen and Emora) We do a lot of fun activities in Abilene: dipping Easter Eggs, making crafts and songs about Jesus, Easter Egg hunts at Joey and Angie’s farm and at Big Buddy’s house, sliding, running, and jumping at Jump Around, communion at Jacob’s Ladder, a visit to the Grace Museum, a craft at the Art Gallery, swimming at the Y, and we celebrate Emora’s dedication in Ange and Brian’s home. At the end of April the little Wallace we are waiting for arrives! Jack Douglas Ronald Wallace is born to Jim and Susan—he is a perfect combination of his parents and is (currently) small, dark and handsome. Our friends Candace and Michelle (and Grandma Ruth on Wednesdays) take care of Imogen until the end of June.
May~ Jenn celebrates her birthday and Mother’s Day a week later. Grandpa Rob, John’s dad, takes a train trip into the US and up to meet Jack. Grandma Sue gets to meet him a little later. Judo ends for another season. Jenn’s book about Gordon, When He Opened His Eyes is completed and available for purchase on blurb.com
June~ We celebrate Father’s Day with friends at Diefenbaker Park. At the end of the month we get to visit again with Ange, Brian, Ivan, Dominique, Emora. We do a lot of fun Saskatoon field trips: Beaver Creek, The Forestry Farm and Zoo, Kinsmen Park, Jazz Festival outdoors by Vimy Memorial, Diefenbaker Lake for an attempt at a canoe trip--oh yes and the school year ends for Jenn. We also go the July 1st celebrations at Diefenbaker Park and meet up with Rob and Sue, Jessica, Dallas and Addy and Dallas’s family as well as Jenn’s cousin Corey, fiancée Candace and their girl Aysia. We also get to meet a Trevor and Ange Loback’s little boy for the first time.
July~ Ottawa to see Jim and Susan and meet Jack for the first time. We also meet up with Wallace cousins and Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Wallace. Imogen really hits it off with second cousins Wyatt and Paige. Logan seems content playing on the piano a lot. Everyone loves on baby Jack. After our wonderful time in the Ottawa/Richmond area we head to Leipzig, Germany. First we meet up, thankfully, with Jenn’s parents in Montreal airport before heading to Leipzig together. Andrea greets us and her mom Madeleine, who help us get settled for a couple of days and help us sort out our car rental…Andrea tours us around before our big road trip. We then go on to visit Paris, Hennebont, Quiberon, Salzburg, Vienna and Prague. We celebrate our fifth anniversary in Paris. (Friends back home think that John scores extra points for this even though Jenn does all the planning.) We get to meet Swan, Jules and Victor—the Lanoës grandsons in Brittany for the first time. Our time with the Lanoë family is always special and they are dear people to us. We head to Salzburg where we stay an extra day. We love our time in Austria as well as our short time in the Czech Republic. Time goes by quickly. Soon we are back in Leipzig for the big event.
August ~The big event is here: Andrew and Andrea get married in Leipzig. It is a beautiful day and the couple is beautiful. We look ok too. We learn some fun traditions that surround weddings in Germany. It is a great time. The next day Andrea’s dad, Werner takes us to Leipzig’s World Class Zoo. It is fun to see our daughter seeing all the animals. We are definitely tired when all is done. Imogen lets us know that she no longer wants to be called Immy but Imogen. (We’ll see about that!) We are still getting over jet lag when Jenn and Imogen head to Edmonton for a girls’ trip with Jenn and Isabelle. We have a great time and meet up with Pella and Zachary, at Susan and Daniel’s house (Pella’s parents) in Edmonton. A great visit is had and Daniel recommends Sorentino’s for Italian food. The next evening we have a great supper there. Our quick trip includes: the Science Center, West Edmonton Mall, Ikea and some outlet stores. When we get home Imogen is no longer breast feeding for good! At home we celebrate Addy’s birthday (belated her first birthday was actually in July). It is a fun party with friends and family--cousin Bryanne is able to be there.
September~The school year begins—well just before September. Jessica recommends a friend’s daycare. Imogen starts at Meghan’s daycare. We love it and are so pleased with her caregivers. They take the kids on field trips and there is a lot of playing outside. Oh yes and Imogen gets croup and THE FLU, John gets THE FLU. Don’t like THE FLU!
October ~More FLU—Jenn joins in the fun. We go to Dutch Growers’ Pumpkin Patch with Jenn and Isabelle and watch the girls tear around. Thanksgiving with Jim and Susan and the Wallaces. Sunday evening we begin our FISH, small church group, meeting in our home. Imogen wears a giraffe costume for Halloween. She loves trick or treating and when we go on a walk a few days (week?) later and we let her wear her costume she tries to tell us to go to people’s houses to get more candies. I make some pumpkin pie and apple pies with our pumpkin and our apples from our tree. (No I did not do the crusts.) We also get the news that Yoyo will be coming back in January; she will live with us for a year.
November ~ We enjoy a warm month. We celebrate Gordon’s birthday—Imogen rewrites the song “Away Far over Jordan,” to “Away Far Over Gordon,” Jenn leads the school choir in a couple of songs for Remembrance Day. We get caught up Rider Pride and the ‘If only’ sentiments that follow the Grey Cup’s final minute. Jenn’s parents head to Boston to visit my aunt, uncle and cousin. Imogen starts spelling her name—after being taught and prompted of course! We start family swim nights—Imogen is crazy about the pool. John and I go to STOMP! It is John’s first time seeing the group perform and it is awesome. Jenn and Imogen get their H1N1 shots. Imogen is a trooper about it. Jenn and Imogen go to Isabelle's birthday party and Grandma Sue has her birthday--Imogen gets the idea and is more than ready for her birthday.
December~ Imogen has her first sleepover at Grandma Ruth and Grandpa Ian’s while Jenn and John go to her staff party. Jenn and John also go to Steve Bell’s concert with the Saskatoon Symphony—Uncle Andrew babysits and does a great job. We celebrate Imogen’s 2nd birthday. Imogen gets her last H1N1 booster. Imogen comes up with her new expressions: “Oh yeah! Come on, come on! SWIM! Video? YEAH! Thank you,Welcome,Merci,Pas de quoi, Make it!” We get the official news that Ange and Brian and kids will be moving to Fort Qu'appelle Saskatchewan in 2010! Emora takes her first steps. Imogen loves the horse pulled sleigh ride at Jenn’s school. We buy the Christmas tree on a crazy cold night and put it up and decorate. We look back on a year with new births and new experiences. We look forward the celebrating Jesus’ birth and all the joy that comes with the season.
May 2010 bring you much joy and love.
May you experience life to its fullest
in the moments and days that fill your calendar.
Love from John, Jennifer and Imogen Wallace

sweet and I think I have jet lag! I'm guessing that in 2010 you won't need to travel quite so much, although we did love seeing you twice in a calendar year!! More of that to come hopefully.
It was a good and busy year.
